Books and Videos
AMI-Québec’s library
The well-stocked AMI library is an invaluable resource for members. Topics include how to cope with and recover from mental illness, as well as personal accounts and information on individual illnesses. There are sections for non-fiction, biographies, fiction, adolescent information, and books for children and teenagers.
The library holds over 500 books, from best sellers to self-help volumes and practical information. Many well-known authors writing about mental illness are represented and there is information for all interests.
The library also owns close to 200 videos and DVDs on major mental illness, including documentaries, medication information, the effects of mental illness on family members and many case studies. Families can view the videos together, a very effective way of bringing everyone up to date easily and quickly.
The library is set up to be user friendly, with a colour-coded system to help you find the subject you are seeking. More than 100 new items have been added in the past year.
Free access to the library is one of the perks of AMI membership. Members can borrow two items at a time for two weeks, and may renew for a further two weeks. For help or more information, call Diana Verrall at 514-486-1448.
